Meet Our Management Team

James Swent III , President and CEO

Mr. Swent brings to Paragon a wealth of experience across a wide variety of industries including 12 years in offshore drilling. Mr. Swent served as Ensco plc’s Executive Vice President from 2012 to 2015, and Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President from 2003 to 2015. Additionally, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer at American Pad & Paper from 1998 to 2000. Mr. Swent began his career as a financial analyst at Memorex Corp, assuming various roles with increasing responsibility until he was in charge of the entire global financial organization. In addition to his role at Paragon, Mr. Swent currently serves on the board of Energy XXI Gulf Coast Inc. Previously, he served as Co-Chairman of American Pad & Paper Co., CEO of Cyrix Corp, and as a Director of Rodime PLC. Mr. Swent holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley.

Anirudha “Sunil” Pangarkar , Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Anirudha Pangarkar was named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Office in August 2017. He had served as Senior Vice President - Special Projects, Supply Chain and Maintenance since August 1, 2015. Mr. Pangarkar has more than 30 years of experience in the offshore drilling industry. He joined Paragon Offshore in January 2015 following the acquisition of Prospector Offshore, where he had been Vice President of Operations since co-founding the company in 2009. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Operations at Premium Drilling, Inc. from 2005 to 2009 where he directed operations for 13 jackup rigs. Before joining Premium Drilling, Mr. Pangarkar was General Manager of Schlumberger Drilling Services where he managed business for 37 drilling rigs across eight countries. Mr. Pangarkar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from M.S. University, India and a Master of Business Administration from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Lee M. Ahlstrom , Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Lee M. Ahlstrom was named interim Chief Financial Officer in November 2016 and confirmed in the position in August 2017. He served as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, Strategy and Planning of Paragon since its founding in 2014. Mr. Ahlstrom has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Prior to his role at Paragon, he served as Senior Vice President – Strategic Development and Vice President of Investor Relations and Planning of Noble Corporation. Prior to joining Noble, Mr. Ahlstrom held various management positions at UNOCAL Corporation and was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company. Mr. Ahlstrom began his career with Exxon, where he held a variety of surface and subsurface engineering positions. Mr. Ahlstrom serves on the board of directors for the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and holds NIRI’s Investor Relations Charter (IRC™) credential.

Andrew W. Tietz , Senior Vice President – Marketing and Contracts

Andrew W. Tietz was named Senior Vice President of Marketing and Contracts in August 2014. Mr. Tietz has more than 25 years of experience in the offshore drilling industry. Prior to joining Paragon Offshore, he served as Vice President – Marketing and Contracts and Director – Marketing and Contracts for Noble Corporation from December 2009 until July 2014. Mr. Tietz started his career in 1991 with Global Marine followed by GlobalSantaFe via the merger with Santa Fe Drilling and finally Transocean via the merger with GlobalSantaFe. He was Director of Marketing and Business Development for Transocean when he departed in November 2009. Mr. Tietz has held a number of Marketing, Operations and Financial positions in various location including Lafayette, LA; Dubai, UAE; Cairo, Egypt; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Tietz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Colorado – Boulder and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Todd D. Strickler , Senior Vice President of Administration, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Todd D. Strickler was named Senior Vice President of Administration, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in August 2016. Prior to this position, he served in the role of Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since August 2014. Mr. Strickler has more than 15 years of experience in the offshore and legal services industries. He served as Associate General Counsel – Corporate of Noble since January 2013 and was Senior Counsel for Noble since February 2009. Prior to his joining Noble, he specialized in corporate and securities law at the law firm of Andrews Kurth LLP. Mr. Strickler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law.

Julie A. Ferro , Vice President – Human Capital Services

Julie A. Ferro joined Paragon Offshore in January 2015 with a focus on Human Capital Management. Ms. Ferro has more than 20 years of human resources experience working for both public and private companies in the energy and commercial real estate industries including her most recent role as Vice President of Human Resources at Endeavour International Corporation. She also spent three years as a Managing Director for a leading compensation consulting firm in Houston. Ms. Ferro has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston, and holds the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP), Certified Equity Professional (CEP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and SHRM-CP designations.

Alejandra Veltmann , Vice President - Chief Accounting Officer

Alejandra Veltmann was named Vice President - Chief Accounting Officer effective June 1, 2015. Ms. Veltmann previously served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Geokinetics Inc. from December 2012 to May 2015, and Corporate Controller from May 2011 to November 2012. Ms. Veltmann has over 23 years of experience in financial management roles for public and private companies in the energy, financial services, and manufacturing industries, including consulting in the role of CFO for entrepreneurial companies. Ms. Veltmann served as senior manager for KPMG and is a certified public accountant. Ms. Veltmann holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from The University of New Mexico.
